Yamcha is a supporting character in the Dragon Ball anime/manga series. He was one of Goku's early friends who started as a thief later becoming a member of the Z-Fighters who are heroes that save the world from its destruction.

• He saved Bulma, Oolong and Puar from Great Ape Goku. Than with Puar, he cut off Goku's tail, ending his subconscious and dangerous rampages.
• Saved Bulma from getting hit by a truck.
• Tried to save Goku's life from Jackie Chun.
• Helped Goku defeat the Red Ribbon Army.
• He explained to Tien that mercy is important for a martial artist when he defeated a rude martial artist, but
• Finds a Dragon Ball to revive Bora.
• Along with Launch, he protected Bulma, Oolong and Puar from criminals that broke into the Kame House.
• Tries to defeat Tambourine.

Dragon Ball Z

• Trains under harsh near-death measures for a year to prepare for the fight against the Saiyans.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?

• He fails the huge admirable standards to heroes like Goku, Vegeta, and Android 17.
• He is arrogant and his lack of getting stronger can make him incompetent in Dragon Ball and was placed more on the sidelines during Dragon Ball Z, the list of examples of how he fails to be a shining savior of the day are listed as:
  • Getting beat up by Tien during his villainous times.
  • When he fought the Saibamen, he arrogantly let his guard letting the nearly dead creature launch a surprise tackle and explode them both.
  • Easily getting defeated and nearly killed by Dr. Gero.
  • Getting overwhelmed by a Cell Jr. (Although the Cell Jrs were and still maybe vastly stronger than him.)
