William Jacob "Will" Byers is one of the main protagonists of the Stranger Things franchise.
He is portrayed by Noah Schnapp.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
General[]
- He is very kind towards his family, with possibly the exception of his father, who doesn't deserve affection regardless.
- He is the most kind member of his friend group, with even Lucas and Eleven, who are Pure Goods themselves having a few jerkish moments (though aren't detracting.)
- Despite having an abusive father, he never turned into a bully like Billy, who had a similar situation.
Past[]
- He befriended a lonely Mike Wheeler in Kindergarten.
- He gave a crying girl his Tonka Truck in a sandbox, despite knowing his mother couldn't afford another one for him.
Season 1[]
- He got a shotgun and tried to stop the Demogorgon.
- He tried to warn Joyce about the Demogorgon attacking and potentially killing her, endangering himself.
Season 2[]
- He helped draw a map of the Upside Down so his allies could find it and stop the Dimensional Rift plaguing his town.
- He helped the other boys search for D'art the Demogorgon.
- While brainwashed by the Mind Flayer, he manages to take control of his hand and tells the party to close the gate using Morse Code, which helps them stop the Mind Flayer.
- Him and Jonathan present Eleven her present from all of the boys which was a walkie-talkie from Radio Shack that the gang had all saved their money for. Will and Jonathan then revealed that they had collected several Christmas specials in VCR form to help make Eleven's first Christmas celebration extra-special. He told her about Christmas Carol.
- After freeing the rabbit from the trap, he and his friends decided to take it back to his house so they can help tend to his injuries.
Season 3[]
- He attends a special surprise alongside his friend to celebrate Dustin's return from summer camp.
- He tries to cheer up Lucas and Mike when they are broken up with by their girlfriends, hoping to keep their friendship going.
- He warns his friends that the Mind Flayer is making contact with the real world then travels to the pool and helps trap Billy in an attempt to detach him from the Flayer.
- He proposed that the group go to the Driscoll residence with the others to investigate about the Flayed.
- Him and Lucas decided to take some fireworks in order to fight the creature, despite Max disagreeing with the idea.
- Alongside his friends, he helps stop the Mind Flayer at the Starcourt Mall, where he helps by using the fireworks he bought earlier. Doing this, he helped in saving Hawkins, and eventually, the world.
Season 4[]
- He helps Eleven clean up her diorama when Angela breaks it, which is more admirable due to Eleven being an outcast who nobody at school likes.
- He and Mike help the wounded Harmon into Argyle's car.
- Alongside Mike, Argyle and Jonathan, he searches for Eleven when she is taken by Hawkins officials.
- He and the others take Eleven out of the bathtub sensory deprivation tank when noticing she has trouble breathing.
- He informs his group that Vecna is still alive after defeating him.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Despite having the overall personality of a Pure Good, he fails the admirable standard too much to the rest of the cast who directly endanger themselves to stop monsters multiple times or make a noble sacrifice, not helping that he has higher resources than the most due to his psychic abilities. While assisting the heroes in stopping the threats from Upside Down allows him to pass the baseline, some of his other noble actions are either standard kindness or shared with the others.
Trivia[]
- While Will is a Heroic Benchmark right now, his status might be changed in upcoming final season.
