Wendy Moira Angela Darling (simply known as Wendy Darling or Wendy) is the deuteragonist of Disney's 14th full-length animated feature film Peter Pan, a supporting character in the sequel Return to Neverland and Jake and the Never Land Pirates special "Battle for the Book" and a minor character in its prequel film Tinker Bell.
She is a caring and nurturing 12-year-old girl who helps people, especially her brothers and Peter Pan. As an adult, she's a loving mother determined to help her children cope with the pressures of World War II. She is the only daughter and eldest child of George and Mary, the older sister of John and Michael, the wife of Edward, the mother of Jane and Danny.
She was voiced by Kathryn Beaumont in the original Peter Pan, while in Return to Neverland she was voiced by Harriet Owen (as a child) and Katie Souce (as adult). America Young voiced her in her cameo in Tinker Bell while in Jake and the Neverland Pirates, she was voiced by Maia Mitchell.
Her good ranking[]
In General[]
- She is a great sister to John and Michael and has always taken good care of them.
- Despite her fear of growing up and becoming like her father, George, she did not resent him.
- Although she sometimes gets angry at Peter, these are brief moments that are justified due to Peter's recklessness.
- When she grew up, she was a good mother to both her children.
- Unlike most characters in the franchise, Wendy has no corrupting qualities such as arrogance, mischief, or lethality, being one of the purest people in the franchise.
Peter Pan[]
- She held no grudge against Tinkerbell for trying to kill her, even convincing Peter not to banish her forever, showing that she is merciful and willing to forgive.
- She accompanied Peter when he went to rescue Tiger Lily, and warned him when Captain Hook tried to attack him from behind.
- She comforted the Lost Boys when they missed normal Earth and was willing to take them in to be adopted by her family.
- She rejects Captain Hook's offer to join his crew because she doesn't want to be like him.
- She comforts her brothers and the Lost Boys when they cry in fear of walking the plank.
- She protected her brothers and th Lost Boys during the battle in Jolly Roger.
- Despite a brief moment of mischief where she calls Hook a "codfish" along with the other children, it is a moment played for laughs, and understandably so, given that Hook tried to kill her.
- She comes to terms with her parents upon returning home, no longer afraid of growing up.
Peter Pan: Return to Neverland[]
- Even as an adult, she never forgot Peter and always kept faith in him.
- She tells Peter's stories to her youngest son, Danny, to keep him hopeful during the dark time of war.
- Upon reuniting with Peter, when he expresses disappointment that she has changed, she assures him that she never stopped believing, with her flying while covered in pixie dust being proof that, even as an adult, she maintains faith and trust.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- While protecting the Lost Boys helps her get past the baseline, she fails the Admirable Standard towards her own daughter, Jane, who took a much more active role in confronting and defeating Hook.
Trivia[]
- In chronological order, she is Disney's first female Heroic Benchmark and is one of the only three Disney Heroic Benchmarks to be a mother, along with Darling and Mrs. Potts.
