Tengen Uzui is a major character in the dark fantasy manga and anime series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
Tengen is the Sound Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps and the only ninja of the group. He was discharged from his duty as a Hashira due to his injury of losing his arm, after his battle with the Upper Six Kizuki Demons.
He is voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi in Japanese and Ray Chase in English.

- He deeply cares for his three wives, Mario, Suma and Hinatsuru.
- He saves Hinatsuru from being killed by Daki.
- He saves Tanjiro from getting stabbed in the eye for Gyutaro twice, the second time, he saved Tanjiro was when he lost an arm and an eye.
- Warns Tanjiro that the fight won’t over yet after he beheaded Gyutaro and after Zenitsu and Inosuke beheaded Daki since Gyutaro has launched his attack before he was beheaded which destroyed half of the district.
- Defeats Gyutaro alongside Tanjiro.
- He shows gratitude towards Nezuko for burning away Gyutaro’s poison on him with her blood demon art and saving his life.
- He trains the demon slayers during the Hashira Training Arc.
- He supports Shinjuro and Urokodaki in protecting Nezuko during the final battle.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While saving Hinatsuru and Tanjiro, help defeating the Upper Moon Gyutaro, killing a Upper Moon after 113 years, are enough to pass the baseline, he fails the admirable standard to multiple other Hashiras with similar resources including Kyojuro Rengoku, who singlehandedly protected two hundreds of passengers from being devoured by Enmu, Shinobu Kocho, who helped create the medicine to weaken Muzan and sacrificed her life to poison Doma, and Muichiro Tokito, who slayed Gyokko to stop his killing spree in Swordsmith Village and sacrificed himself defeating Kokushibo.
- He is too much of an arrogant and egotistical jerk to be Near Pure Good:
- He can be very boastful saying he is a “god” in front of Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu.
- He tells the trio that they are trash saying if he tells them to become dogs, they must become dogs; and if he tells them to become monkeys, then they must be monkeys.
- He forcefully kidnaps Aoi and Naho to try to take them to the entertainment district even though they didn’t give him their consent to go.
- After learning that Naho isn’t a demon slayer, he drops her forcing Tanjiro to catch her from falling.
- Says to Inosuke that his voice is comparing to a dying animal.
- Even though in the latter case, he only said that Inosuke wouldn't ruin the mission, he could have been less rude.
- He is very demanding of others, treating the Demon Slayers very harshly during the Hashira Training and insulting them for having no substance when they couldn’t survive his stamina training.
- Calls himself the god of flashiness and festivals.
- Says the demon slayer corps weak just because he considered them “unflashy”.
- He is shown to be very lethal many times:
- Just like most Hashiras, he has zero-tolerance policy toward demons and even offered to kill Nezuko without even letting Tanjiro explain himself.
- He points out kunai at the neck of a man in the Entertainment District to get him to tell him where Warihibe/Daki was. (Although, to be fair, this last case was nothing more than a threat and it was clear that Tengen was desperate.
- He's a bit of a pervert, making weird comments about Shinobu and Mitsuri's hips and had slapped Aoi's butt once.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the two Hashiras who do not pass Kimetsu no Yaiba's admirable standard, the other being Kanae Kocho.
