“ | Carrie had some sort of power, but she was just like me. Like any of you. She had hopes and she had fears, and we pushed her. And you can only push someone so far... before they break. | „ |
~ Sue Snell |
Susan D. "Sue" Snell is the deuteragonist of Stephen King's first novel Carrie and the film adaptations and the tritagonist of The Rage: Carrie 2. , Sue was a member of a group of popular girls called "the Mortimer Snerds" led by Chris Hargensen and she joined in with them in tormenting Carrie White by throwing tampons and pads at her, but Sue soon felt remorse for her behavior when she gets punished for it by Miss Desjardin and asks her boyfriend, Tommy Ross to take Carrie to the prom to make up for what she did.
She was portrayed by Amy Irving in both the 1976 film and the 1999 sequel, Kandyse McClure in the 2002 made-for-tv movie remake, and Gabriella Wilde in the 2013 film remake.
Her Goodness Ranking[]
Her Heroic Deeds[]
In General[]
- Unlike her novel version, her film versions did way more stuff than the novel version.
- She was the only member of the Mortimer Snerds who didn't care about going to the prom and only cared about Carrie's suffering when she was being chewed out by Miss Desjardin.
- Stood up to Chris and ended her friendship with her and once told her to "shut up".
- Aside from just being nice to Carrie, she also went out of her way to try and stop all disasters from happening in every film, even saving Carrie in the 2002 TV movie.
1976 film[]
- Stood up for Tommy when Miss Collins didn't believe their actions were sincere about Tommy taking Carrie to the prom.
- Tried to stop Chris and Billy from pouring pig blood on Carrie and tried to warn Miss Collins of their plan. Even if she failed, she still tried to stop them.
The Rage: Carrie 2[]
- Became a guidance counselor and coped with people with problems.
- Tried to have Lisa Parker's suicide investigated since she slept with Eric Stark when she was 16 and Eric was 18 and it being statutory rape.
- Tried to help Rachel with her telekinesis before it went out of control, since she was the survivor of the Black Prom and had an experience with Carrie who also had telekinesis.
- Snuck Rachel's mother out of Arkham Asylum to tell Rachel the truth about her father. Although it was breaking and entering, it was for a legitimate reason.
- Tried to get into Mark Bing's house to stop Rachel's massacre, but got killed, but she still risked her life to stop it.
2002 TV movie[]
- Followed Carrie to her home when she noticed the massacre she caused.
- Ultimately saves Carrie's life by performing CPR on her after her mother tried to drown her in her bathtub when she arrived at her house.
- Hides Carrie's body and lied to the cops that Carrie was gone so nobody could find her and brought her food and a drink to survive.
- Took Carrie to Florida to start a new life and where no one will know her.
2013 film[]
- Immediately stopped throwing tampons at Carrie when Miss Desjardin came to see what was happening and told her that Carrie was having her period and didn't know what was happening to her.
- She immediately rushed to the school when she got a text from Chris about to humiliate Carrie and she finds Chris and Billy about to pour pig blood on Carrie and tries to warn Miss Desjardin about it before being locked out of the prom just like in the 1976 version.
- Called 911 when she witnessed the explosion Carrie caused.
- Went to Carrie's house and tried to save her when her house was crumbling.
- She still blamed herself about Carrie's tragedy when she was at court, despite being innocent.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- Although she does stand out in the films and is arguably slightly more admirable, she fails the in-story standards and doesn't do enough with her resource level to qualify for a higher rank.
- Several of her heroic actions tend to rely very much on Fridge Brilliance.
