“ | You see, Hopper... Nature has a certain order: the ants pick the food, the ants keep the food, and the grasshoppers... leave! | „ |
~ Atta stands up to Hopper. |
Princess Atta is the deuteragonist of Pixar's 2nd full-length animated feature film A Bug's Life.
She is the eldest daughter of the Queen of Ant Island, Dot's older sister, and Flik's love interest. She was voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Her Good Ranking[]
Her Heroic Deeds[]
- She's shown to be a good princess and a good friend.
- Every season, she tries her best to provide food for Hopper and his Gang to keep her colony safe from them.
- While she doesn't seem to appreciate Flik's efforts at first, she only does so to keep him out of trouble, plus she subverts this later on after seeing what he's truly made for.
- When Flik recruits a troupe of Circus Bugs as warriors, she tries to keep an eye on them, before gradually seeing potential in them after witnessing them, along with Flik, rescuing Dot from a hungry bird.
- She indirectly gives Flik the idea of scaring Hopper away by constructing a fake bird.
- Upon PT Flea inadvertently exposing the truth of his Circus Troupe's background, her disappointment in Flik is somewhat understandable, as she really did believe they were warriors and believed that Flik had made things worse, having to banish him in the process.
- She has her colony gather up as much food as possible upon the grasshoppers' impending return in an attempt to satisfy them, even if they aren't able to fully appease them.
- When Flik returns after hearing about Hopper's plan to squish the Queen, she encourages his use of the bird despite his earlier deception.
- When Hopper finds out he's been tricked and furiously interrogates the ants, including her and Dot's Blueberry Troupe, she stands in front of the children and defends them from him.
- Furthermore, she becomes horrified when she sees Flik being beaten to near death by Thumper after confessing his idea.
- After hearing Flik's heartfelt speech about the ants' true strength, she stands up to Hopper when he tries to kill him.
- She rescues Flik when he is taken hostage by Hopper, and under his instructions, flies him over to the bird's next in order to ensure Hopper never returns.
- She goes on to become a successful Queen
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]
- She slightly fails the admirable standards to Flik, who risked his life to put an end to Hopper's tyranny.
- She can come across as a hypocrite, as she lied to Flik in order to get him out of the way of meeting Hopper's demands, and later banishes him for lying to her about the Circus Bugs' true background. While her reasons of banishing him was somewhat understandable, it was still wrong and proved to be a fatal mistake later on. However, she subverts this later on, so this is a minor prevention.
- She can be a bit of a control freak, such as shooting down Flik's ideas of harvesting grain. Though, this was mainly out of anxiety and fear over Hopper's demeanor.
