The Poppy Rangers are major characters in the 2015 Cartoon Network original series, We Bare Bears, and are supporting characters in its 2020 series finale film, We Bare Bears: The Movie.
The Poppy Rangers are a group of brave and adventurous little girl scouts/troops and rangers, consisting of Diaz, Parker, Nguyen, Murphy and the leader, Wallace, who have a close friendship with Ranger Tabes and the three bears, more especially Grizz, whom the girls adore and affectionately refer him as, "Bear Guy," even despite Grizz's incompetence and notable flaws within his heroism. Outside of their careers as park rangers like Ranger Tabes, the Poppy Rangers are typically seen casually playing with each other and having fun, more especially by throwing tissues at each other, having pillow fights and/or flying kites, demonstrated in Hurricane Hal. Additionally, the Poppy Rangers also participate in the annual Peewee Ranger Games led by Ranger Martinez, more especially to defeat their arch-rivals, the Ivy Rangers.
Wallace is voiced by Cate Gragnani, Parker is voiced by Danity Harris, Diaz is voiced by Marissa Soto, Ngyuen is voiced by Audrey Huynh (who also voices Stella Cho from XO, Kitty, Kim Jun-hee in the English dub of Squid Game, and the Namashitas from The Boss Baby: Back in Business), and Murphy is voiced by Stella Balick-Karrer.
Their Good Rankings[]
Their Heroic Deeds[]
- In general, the Poppy Rangers are supportive, affable and loyal partners in justice who are extremely helpful in numerous situations, showing high commitment and bond towards one another and more especially, Ranger Tabes and Grizz Bear, and the Poppy Rangers are almost never incompetent in their heroism compared to the two.
- The Poppy Rangers typically follow all of Ranger Tabes and Grizzly's commands, regardless of the severe danger within their commands and whatever adventures Ranger Tabes and Grizz embark them to.
- Despite fluctuating and being blunt towards Grizz from time to time, the Poppy Rangers build a huge friendship towards Grizz Bear, even though they were astonished to encounter him for the first time, similar to Chloe's first interaction with the three bears. Additionally, the Poppies even refer him as "Bear Guy," "Mr. Bear Guy" or at least "Mr. Bear" rather than just a traditional bear animal by basically calling him "Bear," which references Grizz and his fellow bear brothers' philanthropic interaction with the human race.
- Alongside Grizz, the Poppy Rangers saved Wallace from Hurricane Hal, even if it endangered themselves.
- The Poppy Rangers are a voice of pure reason in several occasions:
- When Ranger Tabes encouraged them to explore the dark cave for the badge, they were reluctant on it and tried to reason with her, fearing the danger they will get themselves, along with Tabes and Grizz, into (even Wallace sided with the other Poppy Rangers as she was reluctant on exploring the cave and decided to take the safer route of the cave, like Grizz), such as being eventually stranded in the cave, and Ranger Tabes fell into insecurity and became pessimistic when they did get stranded, but the Poppy Rangers encourage her that she is still an excellent forest ranger, motivating Tabes into optimism and getting herself, Grizz and the Poppy Rangers out of the Howling Mountain Cave before it collapsed. Furthermore, Tabes would go on to motivate herself to improve her heroism thanks to the Poppies' positive influence.
- After the Ranger War in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, the Poppy Rangers were reluctant on eating Grizz, even though they kidnapped him in the first place to do so, indicating that they no longer desire to eat Grizz, but this was out of immense starvation, and even Grizz himself allowed the Poppies to devour him in order to keep them alive, so this is understandable.
- Despite being dismissive of Grizz and his incompetence in the annual Peewee Ranger Games, the Poppies eventually motivate and encourage him to defeat the Ivy Rangers, more especially through cheerleading, in which Grizz reforms his incompetence because of this, and the latter would go on to be more consistent and less incompetent in his heroism over the course of the series thanks to the Poppies' positive influence.
- The Poppy Rangers, alongside their fellow commander, Ranger Tabes, assisted Grizz Bear, Ice Bear and Panda Bear in defeating Agent Trout, leading to his well-deserved imprisonment and preventing Trout from unlawfully capturing and torturing the three Bears. After Trout's incarceration, the Poppies gratefully reunite with Grizz, even despite all of the chaotic scenarios Grizz had put them through, such as the events of Lord of the Poppies.
Why They Don't Stand Out?[]
- While saving Wallace from Hurricane Hal, offering Grizz and Ranger Tabes a immense positive influence to reform themselves from their corrupting factors that would go on over the course of the series, and preventing Agent Trout from unlawfully imprisoning Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear allow them to pass the baseline and make them one of the more influential characters in the entire series, the Poppy Rangers heavily fail the high admirable standards of the We Bare Bears franchise, more especially to the three Bears, including Grizz, and even Ranger Tabes, since their heroism is just supportive.
- Despite their aforementioned loyalty towards one another, the Poppy Rangers are still eager and arrogant enough to argue and bicker with each other from time to time.
- The Poppy Rangers are too dissociative and lethal, demonstrated in the infamous scene in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, where the Poppies fall into insanity after succumbing to immense starvation and having had enough of Grizz's incompetence in attempting to feed/nourish them, going as far as turning against Grizz, kidnapping him and attempting to devour him.
- The Poppy Rangers are also too control freakish and berserking, as after Grizz influenced Nguyen that she is more qualified than Wallace as the leader, the Poppies' immediately switched their attention from Grizz to against each other, leading into a heated quarrel against each other that outright turns into a brutal Ranger War that involves the Poppies brutally fighting one another for the Elite Ranger Guidebook to attain leadership, just to rule over the other Poppies out of ruthlessness, sabotaging their pure friendship with each other to a heavily destructive and heated hostility against one another. As such, the Poppy Rangers have too much corrupting factors for NPG or PG.
