Sheldon J. Plankton, simply known as Plankton, is the main antagonist of Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants franchise.
He runs an unsuccessful restaurant called the Chum Bucket along with his robotic wife/sidekick Karen, and constantly plots to both expand his business (usually by stealing the Krabby Patty secret recipe) and eventually take over the world (or at least that's what he thinks).
He is voiced by Doug Lawrence.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
- While he was more evil in his earlier appearances, the newer episodes made Plankton less evil and he has shown a more good-hearted side in the newer episodes.
- Sometimes, he worries a lot about his wife Karen.
- Like when he helped SpongeBob save her from the virus.
- And he was really worried when she exploded in "Single Cell Anniversary".
- He cares a lot for his pet Spot.
- In "Band Geeks", he joined the other Bikini Bottomies to become the best band for Squidward.
- While he did torment Mr. Krabs with a mine in "One Coarse Meal", it was completely justified as Mr. Krabs tormented Plankton first by disguising himself as a whale to scare Plankton for 16 days, made Plankton attempt to commit suicide, and didn't feel any remorse for tormenting Plankton, not really caring if Plankton committed suicide.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, he worked with SpongBob to restore Bikini Bottom from a post-apocalyptic state, come up with the idea to build a time-machine to go back in time and get the formula before it disappeared, rescue Karen from being imprisoned by the savage people, and also played a key role in the defeat of Burger-Bread, and even when he had the formula on his hands, he still returned it to Mr. Krabs.
- He once saved Mr. Krabs from drowning.
- Plankton and Mr. Krabs joined forces to try and stop Plankrab after he merged the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket into one restaurant.
- In "Plankton's Good Eye", he attempted to save Bubble Bass from a burning building.
- In "Karen's Baby", he tries to save his son from the Weird machine.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, he helped Sandy, Squidward and Mr. Krabs rescue SpongeBob, Patrick and Gary from King Poseidon.
- In Kamp Koral after SpongeBob and Patrick accidentally mutated he returned them to normal.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Despite saving an entire city, he still fails the admirable standard compared to SpongeBob, who saved Bikini Bottom way more times than him and played as much of a role in restoring Bikini Bottom and defeating Burger Beard as he did.
- To a lesser extent, he also fails to Patrick, because he saved Bikini Bottom as many times as SpongeBob did with lower resources.
- Resources don’t help as Plankton has access to technology whereas SpongeBob and Patrick are generally two normal beings who perform many admirable feats without superpowers or access to powerful technology (although SpongeBob did have the power of his love for Christmas, which let him be immune to the fruit cake corruption and save everyone in Bikini Bottom from being brainwashed into being naughty).
- There are many moments when he behaves like a jerk.
- He treated Karen very badly on several occasions dispite her being his wife.
- In "Plankton Gets the Boot", he insults Karen in a fit of rage.
- In "Frozen Face Off" when he organized a fake race in the snow, he sent Karen to compete even though he knew it was dangerous.
- He is On & Off because he is a villain most of the time. In fact, he even passes the series' heinous standards and is, as a result, Inconsistently Heinous.
Trivia[]
While hes currently HB at the moment that could change in the plankton movie (due to him being the main protagonist)
