~ Pauline in The Super Mario Bros. Movie |
Pauline is a supporting character in Nintendo's Super Mario franchise, and best known as Mario's ex-girlfriend, now close friend of his. She was often the damsel in distress due to her being abducted by Donkey Kong in her debut and in many of her in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. She is now the mayor of New Donk City. She has made further appearances in the spinoff games since then.
She is voiced by Kate Higgins.
Her Good Ranking
Her Heroic Deeds
- She is noted to not hold anything against Donkey Kong despite being kidnapped by him on numerous occasions and in Minis on the Move, she is willing to team up with him to host an arcade game.
- She is shown to be a great leader to her citizens of New Donk City and always keeps their spirits up with her songs such as Jump Up, Super Star.
- She helps Mario stop Bowser's wedding.
Why Doesn't She Stand Out?
- Pauline fails the standards severely to several other characters in the series as she was mostly the damsel in distress, and she usually only managed to perform generic heroic acts. Even when she is making more appearances in recent installments, Pauline most often appears in spinoff games where the stakes tend to be too low for her to help her stand out. Her actions in Mario Odyssey do allow her to pass the general baseline, but she still is nowhere near the high admirable standards of the Super Mario franchise.
