| ~ Mr. Krabs |
Eugene Harold Krabs (better known simply as Mr. Krabs) is an anti-heroic major character in Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants franchise.
He is the greedy, selfish, and money-obsessed owner of the Krusty Krab as well as the archenemy of Plankton.
He is normally greedy, selfish, and quite literally obsessed with money itself. Mr. Krabs is mostly respected by SpongeBob, while Squidward tends to loathe him. Even though he is a lot of times an anti-hero and a cheapskate villain throughout the series, there are several episodes where he does heroic things.
He is voiced by Clancy Brown, Who Also Voiced Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
In General[]
- He consistently defends the Krusty Krab from threats, given that he consistently stops Plankton from stealing the secret formula multiple times.
- While he is generally ruthless, commanding and willing to do anything for profit, he has shown care for several people:
- He occasionally cares for SpongeBob and Squidward, like when he attempted to teach SpongeBob to drive, and when he and the rest of the Bikini Bottomites tried to become the best band for Squidward.
- He especially cares for his daughter despite struggling to understand her, such as when he found a prom date for her in "The Chaperone" and when he stole food for her because she was going through a growth spurt in "Growth Spurt".
- Although the latter act was justified since he was unable to buy food because all of the stores were closed, it also shows he is willing to break the law for the greater good.
SpongeBob SquarePants[]
- He helped SpongeBob regain his confidence in "Pickles".
- He warned Bikini Bottom about the hooks.
- He came up with "Employee Brotherhood Day".
- In the end of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, he gives the job of manager to SpongeBob after he has manage to get back with the crown in time to save him form Neptune’s wrath and even apologizing for doubting him.
- He saved Krusty Krab from Carl.
- He saved the Bikini Bottom Mint from robbers.
- In "Seance Shemeance", he single-handedly defeated and rounded up all the ghosts and ghouls into the bubble, with just a mop.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, he and the other main characters became superheroes and saved Bikini Bottom from Burger-Beard.
- In "Wiener Takes All", he and SpongeBob save Squidward from getting turned into a robot by the president of Weenie Hut.
- He is apparently one of the few people that is helping Bikini Bottom in terms of food. In Sponge Out of Water, it is seen that, without the Krabby Patties, Bikini Bottom suffered from famine, and its people became crazy while trying to find anything to eat. He is also aware of this, saying that the Krabby Patty is what unifies everyone in Bikini Bottom.
- He and Plankton joined forces to try and stop PlanKrab after he merged the Krusty Krab and the Chum Bucket into one restaurant.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, he helped Sandy, Squidward and Plankton save SpongeBob, Patrick and Gary from King Poseidon.
- In Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie, he points out that by fusing the tiny SpongeBobs together, SpongeBob will turn back to normal and he also helps Sandy, her family, SpongeBob, Mr. Krabs and Squidward return Bikini Bottom back to the ocean.
- In the 2018 Free Comic Book Day story "Super Villain Team Up", after receiving superhero training from Mermaid Man, he becomes a superhero named the Golden Doubloon. After SpongeBob makes Man Ray vulnerable by using an "Oven Mitt of Destiny" to easily yank the glove out of Man Ray's hand, allowing Golden Doubloon to finish the job.
- In Plankton: The Movie, he tries to defend the Bikini Bottom from the Hydra Karen with the army.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants:
- When SpongeBob and Patrick find their way into the underworld, Mr. Krabs, Gary and Squidward go on a rescue mission.
- After he and SpongeBob get turned into ghost pirates, Mr. Krabs encourages SpongeBob to blow a bubble, capture the Flying Dutchman's horn and destroy it before sunset. Thus breaking the curse.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- He fails the average admirable standards of SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy who did more good deeds than him with less resources.
- He is an anti-hero and a hero by proxy, as most of his good deeds were done in self-interest.
- His heroic actions are mostly so he can get some benefit out of it.
- He is so greedy, it is his defining trait.
- He has way too many Kick the Dog moments where he usually acts mischievous, inconsiderate, sociopathic, and many times villainous, to the point of being Inconsistently Heinous. As a result, he is On and Off.
- To put it into perspective, some of his most corrupt actions include selling SpongeBob's soul for $0.62, repeatedly abusing his staff at the Krusty Krab, and even psychologically manipulating Plankton to the point of near-suicide in One Coarse Meal.
- His cheapness has runied many of Pearls birthday's buying cheap party supplies and gifts.
- In "Hooky," he initially warns SpongeBob and Patrick Star about the danger of hooks to make sure they don't get killed by fishermen and sold on the surface, but once SpongeBob forgets about the lesson due to Patrick's peer pressure the following day, Krabs and Squidward set up a fake hook up for him to see if he has learned. This results in a scared SpongeBob ripping his pants off in front of Krabs, his daughter Pearl and her friends, only to then get his underpants ripped off and be launched naked against the Krusty Krab's doors, making him a laughing stock for all those present at the restaurant.
- Though SpongeBob did deserve a lesson, Krabs and Squidward had no right to publicly humiliate and traumatize him just for him to learn to take care of himself.
- He sold SpongeBob's soul for 0.62$ in "Born Again Krabs".
- In "SpongeBob You're Fired," he fires SpongeBob (his most loyal employee) for the sole purpose of saving a measly nickel that he discovered he could save if he cut SpongeBob's salary completely.
- Plus, even after rehiring SpongeBob at the end of the episode, he installs a pay toilet that costs exactly one nickel to use in order to make up for the nickel he lost previously by paying SpongeBob.
- He used SpongeBob and Squidward as a live bait in "Clams".
- He abused many jellyfishes for jelly in "Jellyfish Hunter".
- He tried to poison a health inspector because he though he was a fraud in "Nasty Patty".
- In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, he gives the manager's job to Squidward instead of SpongeBob, despite SpongeBob being his most loyal employee and a great and loyal fry cook since day one.
- He also changes the price of a Krabby Patty with cheese from $1 to $101 in an attempt to get more money out of King when Neptune, he assume that King Neptune is coming to Krusty Krab 2 to eat.
- When Patrick argues with Neptune of how many days SpongeBob can make it back with his crown, he and SpongeBob brutally beat up Patrick just to shut him up with Mr. Krabs choking him, while this may be understandable as Patrick is giving SpongeBob less time on his quest to retrieve Neptune's crown, it is still wrong to assault and choke someone.
- He abused Gary when he found out he could attract coins in "The Cent of Money".
- He betrayed SpongeBob and the others in a sled race in "Frozen Face-Off".
- He wanted to steal Plankton's only customer in "Plankton's Regular". He even hypocritically tried to steal Plankton's recipe so that the customer would come to him despite the fact that his restaurant is still successful without that customer.
- He used Plankton's fear of whales to torture him and make him attempt suicide in "One Coarse Meal".
- He forced SpongeBob and Patrick to wrestle two very dangerous wrestlers in "Krusty Krushers".
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, he accuses Plankton of stealing the secret formula despite the fact that Plankton wasn't actually responsible that time, taping Plankton down and tells a knock-knock joke to get SpongeBob to torture Plankton by laughing, starting a riot and chases SpongeBob and Plankton all over Bikini Bottom, having Karen imprisoned and searches through her files for the formula, trying to kill SpongeBob as a sacrifice for the "sandwich gods" with the other Bikini Bottomites and trying to feed Squidward to the pelicans to save his own skin.
- He sent SpongeBob in search of dangerous ingredients to trick Plankton despite putting SpongeBob's life at risk in "Shopping List".
- He tries to kill Squidward so that his paintings get more value in "Out of the Picture".
