Master Monkey, or simply Monkey, is a major protagonist in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. He is a gold snub-nosed monkey who is a member of the Furious Five and a master of the Monkey style of kung fu.
He is voiced by Jackie Chan in the films and Kung Fu Panda Holiday; Jaycee Chan in Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five; and James Sie in TV series, video games, and Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Scroll.

Background[]
- When he was younger, he became a hero to the people in his village after Oogway taught him to show compassion to others, saving them from bandits and helping them go down the stairs.
- He helped Tigress and the others defeat Boar even after Shifu rejected him, Viper, Mantis, and Crane at first.
- He is implied to have helped the other Furious Five in numerous battles in the past, although these are offscreen.
Kung Fu Panda[]
- He warmed up to Po after rejecting him at first, even sharing the panda's sense of humor and being the first to refer to him by name.
- He helped fight Tai Lung at the Thread of Hope (where he saved Viper when the snow leopard grabbed her by the throat), and later helped evacuate the Valley of Peace on Shifu's orders.
- He accepted Po as the Dragon Warrior when the panda defeated Tai Lung.
Kung Fu Panda 2[]
- He helped Po and the rest of the Five fight off the wolf bandits in the Artisan Village, assisting the panda in saving a pig from falling to his death.
- He volunteered to be on watch for any enemies when the group went to Gongmen City to stop Shen, fighting and defeating two wolves with Crane.
- He assisted Po and the rest of the Five in the second battle against Shen.
- He tried to rally the rest of the Five when Shen seemingly killed Po, trying to break Tigress out of her depression.
- He helped in the final battle against Shen and his army, freeing himself and the rest of the Five when Po returned and tossed him an axe.
Kung Fu Panda 3[]
- He helped in the initial battle against the Jombies; and later went on to defend the Jade Palace with Shifu, Viper, and Tigress; trying to free a Jombified Mantis from his brainwashing before also being Jombified.
Kung Fu Panda 4[]
- He and the rest of the Furious Five helped Po train Zhen to be the next Dragon Warrior.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- He is very mischievous, especially shown in his youth when he would play tricks on the townspeople and the warriors they sent to drive him away in revenge for being made the laughingstock of his hometown before Oogway taught him the secret of compassion.
- Most of his heroism consists of supporting Po, Shifu, and the Furious Five in battle.
- Despite passing the general baseline by helping others defeat villains, he still fails the Admirable Standard to:
- Tigress, who led the Furious Five in their battle against Tai Lung and helped in defeating Lord Shen and Kai.
- Mr. Ping, who played an important role in Tai Lung's defeat and helped defeat Kai and the Jombies.
- Mantis, who saved a group of aphids from being killed by murderous ladybugs and a village of sheep from freezing when crocodile bandits stole their wool supply.
- The Soothsayer, who tried many times to redeem Shen and helped Po overcome his trauma to defeat the wicked peacock.
- Li Shan, who protected Po from the Boss Wolf when he was a baby and later helped his son defeat Kai and the Chameleon.
