Metro Man is the overarching protagonist of the Megamind franchise.

He is the archenemy-turned-predecessor and eventual ally to Megamind, the films titular main protagonist. The two start off as classmates in preschool after they are sent from the same dying galaxy. Their rivalry continues as they grow into adults, until he one day, he has enough of being a superhero, realizing that his conflict with Megamind was meaningless. He fakes his death as result, leaving Metro City in the hands of Megamind.

His Good Ranking[]

His Heroic Deeds[]

  • He once gifted his classmates popcorn while he was still in preschool.
  • He defended Metro City from Megamind on countless occasions.
  • When Megamind and Roxanne discovered that his death was faked, and found him alive at his secret hideout, he explained the truth as to why he abandoned his role as defender of Metro City and told Megamind he should succeed him as the new defender of Metro City.
  • In a disguise, he attends the event honoring Megamind as the new hero and contributes to congratulating him taking his place.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While he likely has a long heroic track record and Megamind claims he is always victorious, most of his actions of defending Metro City from Megamind are only mentioned or shown in new papers in the open credits of the film, meaning that he relies on offscreen heroism.
  • Despite crossing the general baseline by encouraging Megamind to be the city's new hero and defeat Titan, he still fails the admirable standards too much to Megamind and Minion, who both stopped Tighten from doing anymore destruction to Metro City, and Roxanne who inspired Megamind's redemption and tried to redeem Hal. Come Megamind Rules!, he also fails the standards to Keiko who helped stop the Doom Syndicate from launching Metro City into space.
  • He can be somewhat intensive as he calls one of his fans a random citizen and didn't bother learning his name. Although, on the other hand, that fan was really a random citizen for Metro Man, and he thought that he was seeing this fan for the first and last time in his life, therefore, he simply had no reason to get to know this fan closer, so it's a minor prevention.
  • He is too deceitful to be PG or NPG, as while it is reasonable that he found his conflict with Megamind outright repetitive, he still betrayed Metro City by faking his death when he knew he couldn't retire, leaving it in the hands of Megamind and later Tighten while refusing to lend his help.
  • He is legitimately a Hero by Proxy, as he admitted he only became one because the city wants him to be and had no intent to be heroic by his own choice. Even Megamind states that heroism is the path given to him rather than the path he chose for himself.
