Merliah Summers, also known as Princess Merliah or Queen of the Waves, is the main protagonist in Barbie in A Mermaid Tale series. She is the daughter of Queen Calissa and Rip Summers and granddaughter of Break Summers.
She was played by Barbie Roberts and voiced by Kelly Sheridan.

- She was born in Oceana and being half-human and half-mermaid who likes to surfing in all the times. When she was a baby, her mother Calissa is tries one's best in give her to her grandfather Break. As a teenager, she and her friends Fallon and Hadley are join the surfers tournament but even she turning her long hair into pink to learning that she would breath underwater by hearing a pink before a dolphin, Zuma appears to speak with her.
- Back to her home and talk to her grandfather, she thinks about her past is truth although gets trouble to believed. She also speaking with her friends in seaside. Zuma telling her everything that Break is told her a true when Calissa is once the queen of Oceana before her sister Eris attempted to overthrow her and rules the kingdom as the new queen.
- Despite still not believing her mother and yanked off for the magical necklace gives to her as a baby to throwing into ground, she wants to be revealed that her mother is still alive and arrives in Oceana with Zuma together. She later worked with the two mermaids Xylie and Kayla to defeated Eris.
- Following Eris's lose, she save her mother and help her to restored Oceana.
- In second film, her rivaled with Kylie Morgan during the latest surfing tournament. She received a first place as Kylie and Fallon are gained the second and third place respectively. She also save her mother, Kylie, and the ambassadors from Eris. In the final stage of the surfer competition, she got the second place since Kylie eventually gain the first place. After Kylie wins, Georgie Majors promise to making her a surf gear model beside Merliah. Kylie agreed to shared her trophy with Merliah due to her felt that it's special to be a part of something big. They hold up the trophy together and were eventually cheered on by the hundreds of people in the crowded.
