Mayor Leodore Lionheart, more known as simply Lionheart, is the overarching protagonist of Disney's 55th full-length animated feature film, Zootopia.
He is the mayor of the eponymous city who takes his job seriously, albeit with much sternness. Things take a turn for him when the Night Howler incidents, which causes predators to unwittingly become feral, occur within the city, causing the divide between predators and preys. He tries to solve the crisis by making feral mammals disappear without informing anyone of what happened to them.
He was voiced by J.K. Simmons.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
- He appointed Judy Hopps to the Zootopia Police Department as Zootopia's very first rabbit police officer.
- He was behind the Mammal Inclusion Initiative, a policy that aimed to ensure that any mammal, regardless of species, could achieve a high-ranking position in society.
- When the predators started to go feral, he had them captured before they could hurt anyone and kept them in an asylum, while having Dr. Madge Honey Badger do research on what caused them to go feral.
- While what he did was illegal, he still had good intentions at heart, as he didn't want feral mammals to do harm onto citizens and was likely searching for a way to revert them back to normal.
- After being arrested, he eventually admitted his fault, saying that he did the wrong thing for the right reason.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the Admirable Standards to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Despite being the mayor of Zootopia and having access to much more resources than them, he only temporarily postponed the Night Howlers' threat, while they uncovered the entire conspiracy and stopped any more predators from going feral, while also curing the infected ones.
- He kept sapient animals caged in unpleasant conditions without proper care and refused to reveal their whereabouts to the public. While he eventually admits that he was wrong, he doesn't have enough screentime to fully subvert this corrupting factor.
- He often acts like a jerk towards his employees, overworking and insulting Dawn Bellwether and shouting at Madge. He isn't shown to subvert this corrupting factor, not to mention that it's implied to have served as a catalysis to Bellwether's fall to villainy.
- It's implied that part of the reason he didn't tell anyone about the predators going savage was a selfish desire to uphold his own reputation, since he was also a predator. Although it could be argued he didn't want the people to be filled with fear, so this is a minor prevention.
Trivia[]
- He and Benjamin Clawhauser are currently the only Zootopia Heroic Benchmarks.
