~ Martin admitting he loves Stacey moments before his death. |
Martin Fowler was a supporting protagonist of the British television soap opera, EastEnders. He was the brother of Mark and Michelle Fowler and was the father of Bex, Hope and Roman Fowler, as well as being the adoptive-father of Lily Slater and Arthur Fowler. He was also the ex-husband of Sonia, Stacey and Ruby and fiancé again to Stacey. He was also the cousin of EastEnders longest serving character, Ian Beale.
His Heroic Deeds[]
- In a final act of heroism, Martin saved multiple people and went back to save Stacey who was trapped from debris by the explosion at The Queen Victoria, an act that ultimately cost him his life. This makes his stand out are there are very few characters that have scarified ones live to save other character.
- Martin is known for his deep care for his family. He often puts them first, especially his children. Moreover, he treats his step/adoptive children just as well as his biological children.
- Martin is known for protecting his loved ones. He has been involved in various storylines where he defends his friends and family from harm, showcasing his loyalty and bravery. For example, he engaged in criminal activity to protect his family from Ben Mitchell, who was threatening them.
- Martin agreed to be baby Roman's donor saving him from liver failure
- He allowed Keanu Taylor to escape, despite being blackmailed by the Mitchells to kill him.
- Martin took the blame for Sonia for stealing Dot Branning money which led to Dot disowning Martin and leaving the square.
- He assisted in getting Sonia out of prison for a crime of killing Debbie which she did not commit.
- He defended Whitney Dean from Leo King who was stalking and harassing her.
- He stood up for Kat Slater when she was being harassed by Phil Mitchell
- He talked Stacey out of jumping from the Queen Vic’s roof.
- He defended Sonia from Reiss when he founded out that Reiss had a secret wife.
- He consoled Jean after she was scammed out of thousands of pounds, reassuring her she is not stupid and scammer can con anyone.
- He defended Jean Slater when she told Arthur Fowler about his father's death as she was going through a mental heath relapse.
- He stood up to Alexandra D’Costa and Madison Drake, who were bullying Louise Mitchell and his daughter, Bex Fowler.
- Martin has shown the ability to forgive those who have wronged him. For instance, he forgave his sister, Michelle, despite her affair with an underage boy who was also dating his daughter. He also forgave his friend Kush, who had slept with his partner, Stacey.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While he passes the baseline due to his self sacrifice to save Stacey, he fails the admirable standards of the EastEnders soap opera as the rest of his good deeds are standard in the EastEnders world.
- Has committed some villainous acts, examples being when he accidently hit Jamie Mitchell with his car which led to Jamie's death. However, he did feel great remorse. Another villainous act was when the held young Ben Mitchell hostage on top of the train tacks. He also became a vigilante in late 2019 though he was being blackmailed by Ben Mitchell.
- He can be very wrathful at times losing his cool when it is not necessary and jumping to conclusions.
