“ | It’s not the pebble, it’s the penguin. | „ |
~ Marina |
Marina is the lead female of the 1995 animated film, The Pebble and the Penguin. She is the most beautiful girl penguin of the rookery of Adélie penguins, as well as Hubie's love interest, eventually his wife in the end of the film.
She was voiced by Annie Golden.
Her Goodness Ranking[]
Her Heroic Deeds[]
- She does not lose her cool with Hubie after he bumps into her upon accidentally losing balance and plummeting from the mountain; instead, she acts with patience and understanding to Hubie of his klutziness.
- She genuinely loves Hubie for his caring, kind-hearted demeanor, as opposed to what kind of pebble he may get for her.
- When Hubie went missing and was thought to have been dead, she was the only penguin in the Rookery who sensed he may still be alive and clanged onto her hopes of him returning home in time for the Full Moon Mating Ceremony, even when Drake tells her otherwise in an attempt to convince her to choose him as her mate over Hubie.
- Speaking of Drake, she stands up against the idea of marrying him, outright rejecting him when he took advantage of Hubie's presumed death to propose to her every night preceding the mating ceremony.
- After Drake succeeded in knocking out Hubie from the first half of their showdown, Marina tried to run over to Hubie and help him recover, but to no avail.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out[]
- While she passes the baseline by trying to help Hubie recover from being knocked out, she still heavily fails the in-story standards to Hubie, Rocko, and Petra, Beany & Timmy, who have all done more admirable deeds than her with similar resources; this is largely thanks to her only having 12 minutes of screentime in the film.
