King Harkinian is the overarching protagonist of the panned Zelda CD-i duology. He is the king of Hyrule and helps Link and Zelda in their adventures to stop Ganon.
He was voiced by Mark Berry.

His Heroic Deeds[]
- When Link complains about Hyrule's lack of conflict in Link: The Faces of Evil, he reminds him that peace is necessary in the kingdom.
- Upon Gwonam telling him and Link that Ganon and his army have seized Koridai, Harkinian readily offers his aid.
- In Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, he prepares to rescue Duke Onkled, his cousin, from Ganon. Although Zelda worries for his safety, Harkinian tells her to send Link should he not return in a month.
- When Zelda rescues him from Onkled's captivity, he embraces her with open arms.
- Despite Onkled endangering all of Hyrule and putting him and Link under captivity, Harkinian gives his cousin a generous punishment by ordering him to scrub all the floors in Hyrule.
- He has no corrupting qualities.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- While he has a benevolent personality, he fails to do anything heroic in Link: The Faces of Evil outside of bog-standard acts of kindness. Even his act of rescuing Duke Onkled, while kind, is still bog-standard.
- He fails the admirable standards to Link, who saved Koridai, and Zelda, who unfroze all the people in the Fairy Fountain, both of whom actually stopped Ganon. Not helping is how he has more resources than both of them with the Triforce of Courage yet doesn't go above standard heroism. Lastly, both plots focus much more on Link and Zelda than on Harkinian.
