This attack proves your point. We are woefully unprepared to defend against the Calamity. The Zora will face this peril head on. We must consider the future. We all share this land of Hyrule, so all of us must do our part.

His Good Ranking[]

His Heroic Deeds[]

Breath of the Wild[]

  • King Dorephan permits Mipha to become Divine Beast Vah Ruta's pilot when Calamity Ganon's threat can't be brushed off anymore, though he eventually regrets doing so after she met her demise during Ganon's attack and often prays that her soul finds rest.
  • According to the Stone Monuments having documented the history of the Zoras, when a stray Guardian wandered into Zora's Domain where his soldiers could not fend it off, King Dorephan held his ground and single-handedly defeated the Guardian by throwing it into the ravine, which gave him a scar as well as the trust and respect from his people.
  • When Link arrives, he tells Link about the trouble with Vah Ruta plaguing Zora's Domain and the surrounding areas with endless rainstorms that threatened to break Rutela Dam and cause a disastrous flood that would destroy the domain and flood all of Hyrule.
  • After Link calms Vah Ruta, he congratulates him for his deeds as well as his son and grants the Lightscale Trident to Link.

Age of Calamity[]

  • King Dorephan fought off the monster army that was attacking Zora's Domain.
  • While initially reluctant to permit Mipha to become the Zora Champion of Vah Ruta, he eventually does allow her to take on this duty while reminding her to return home safely, showing that he cares and worries for her.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • While he has the ideal personality, King Dorephan not only fails the admirable standards to both of his children and the Champions, who have played a vital role to bring down Calamity Ganon, but much of his heroism have largely occurred off-screen and his lack of sufficient screen-time where he only does the bare minimum doesn't help him either.
