Katsumi Minato is one of the two main protagonists (alongside his brother Isami Minato) of Ultraman R/B. He is the human host of Ultraman Rosso, as well as the eldest son of the Minato Family.

  • As a result of his determination to reason with Saki and convince her into joint their side, he and Asahi and responsible for her redeeming herself during the penultimate episode

Background[]

  • By the time the series starts, he had already sacrificed his personal dream of becoming a professional baseball player in favor of supporting his family, specifically by helping his father run a clothing shop

Ultraman R/B[]

As Himself[]
  • In episode 1, he helped a kid reunite with his mother during Griego’s rampage
  • In episode 2, helped Isumi get Asahi to safety during Black Kings rampage
  • Upon learning that his old baseball coach was going to retire, he spent the remainder of the episode trying to help his team win the game so that they could give him a final farewell.
  • In episode 7, he spent the majority of it checking on Isami to see if he was okay upon noticing his strange behavior after their battle with Mechagomor
  • In episode 8, he helped Isumi free Aisha from some rope before later encouraging the former  take her to safety
  • As him and Isami were about to leave the hospital they were in and  confront Horoboros, he (and Katsumi) reassured Asahi that they would be okay
  • Despite Isami ungratefully accusing him of forcing his dreams on him earlier in the episode, he still went on to forgive him, even going so far as to  apologize to him for yelling at him and getting mad at him, even though he was justified.
  • Upon learning that their father had asked Asahi who she was as if she was seemingly wasn’t his daughter, him and Isami angrily began  calling out for hurting her feelings. Following this, him and Isami went out to go find her so there so they could comfort he
  • Even after the reveal that Asahi was adopted, him and Isami still went of their way to treat her like family
  • In episode 20,  he saved Saki from getting crushed by rouble despite everything she did
  • Additionally, when asked why he did so, he responded by stating him and his brother were Ultras and that it was what they d
  • When asked by his father why he and Isami chose to keep their identity as Russo and Blu a secret, he responded by saying they didn’t want to make him worried.
  • In episode 24, him and Isami managed to convince their father into giving their Gyros so that they could transform into Russo and Blu and help Saki fight Leugocyte. In particular when asked why they wanted to put their life on the line, him and Katsumi responded by saying they were Ultraman and that it was their responsibility to do so.
  • In episode 25, him and Isami reassured their mother they would be okay and that their was a chance her vision of them dying could change

  • In episode 1, he helped Isami defeat Griego
  • In episode 2, he helped Isami defeat Black King

  • In episode 15, him and Isami defeated Cereza in his Griego King form

  • In episode 21, him and Isami defeated Saki, preventing her from blowing up. However, rather than finishing her off, they instead spared her so that they could prove to her they could defeat Leugocyte for her and avenge her brother
  • In episode 22, him and Katsumi defeated Grigio Regina
  • In episode 25, him, Katsumi, and Asahi managed to defeat Leugocyte and prevent him from destroying earth

Ultraman R/B The Movie: Select! The Crystal Of Bond[]

As Himself[]
  • Upon being told by Isami that he was scared off leaving to go to California to become a scientist out of fear being unable to protect the city, he reassured him that he would protect it in his place (essentially encouraging him to not worry about and pursue it anyway)
    • Despite the risk of being unable to come back, he still chose to transform and go to the planet of Pigmon when Tregear revealed they were being terrorized by Mechagomora
  • Following Tregear’s defeat, he later gave Toi a baseball he left for him earlier
  • In the end, he ultimately chose to become become  a designer
As Russo[]
  • In the first fight, he helped Isami and Geed  defeat Bemstar and Gan-Q
    • Additionally, in this first fight, he also helped Isami rescue Pega from inside Gan-Q
  • Defeated Mechagomora on planet Hostar 21 and prevented it from wiping out all the Pigmon inhabitants
As Gruebe (a fusion between Russo, Blu, and Griego)[]
  • In the climax, him, Katsumi, and Asami all defeated Treager and free Toi from his influence.

Ultra Galaxy Fight: New Generation Heroes[]

As Russo[]
  • Upon being informed by Taro that Dark Killer had captured their sister, him and Isami immediately went off to go rescue her
  • Following Dark Killer’s defeat, he later had Asahi return to their Earth so that she could protect it while he and Isami went to go help the other new gen Ultras stop Tregear
As Ruebe[]
  • In episode 10, him and Isami defeated Zero Darkness
As Gruebe[]
  • In episode 12, him, Isami, and Grigio all helped the other new gen ultras defeat Dark Killer

Ultraman Taiga[]

As Russo[]

Upon discovering that Tregear was planning on attacking the land of light, him and the other new gen Ultras immediately began chasing him in order to try and stop him

In episode 1, he gave Taiga one of his lights as a gifts, resulting in it manifesting as Bracelet-type called Ultra-Taiga Accessories.

Ultraman Taiga The Movie: New Generation Climax[]

Prior to the events of the film, he and the rest of the new gen Ultras all managed to temporarily seal Grimdo (albeit by sacrificing their ability to transform in the process)

Upon learning that the seal him and the other new gen ultras had casted on Grimdo was about to break and that it was about to head towards Taiga, he and the others immediately went to go help him

As Grube[]

By fusing together with Hikaru/Ginga, Sho/Victory,  X/Daichi, Orb, Geed, Titas, Fuma, and Taiga, him, Isami, Asami were ultimately able to help them create Ultraman Reiga and defeat Grimdo and Tregear for good.

Why He Doesn’t Stand Out?[]

  • He fails the admirable standard to the other new Gen heroes such as Hikaru Raido, Sho, Daichi, Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Geed, Ultraman Z, Haruki, with one of his two most admirable acts already being shared by the former seven who did way more with similar resources.
