Kami's Predecessor is a former god of Earth and the master of his successor, Kami. In the manga he is never shown while in the anime he appears in flashback and makes an appearance in the Garlic Jr. Saga of Dragon Ball Z.

In Japanese he does not speak, but in English he has some lines in the Funimation dub, voiced by Sean Schemmel, and in the Ocean Group dubs, voiced by Alvin Sanders.

His Good Ranking[]

His Heroic Deeds[]

  • He was once the Guardian of Earth, dedicated to protect the life of the planet from threats.
  • He trains the Nameless Namekian and Garlic to choose who will be his succesor.
  • After realizing that Garlic intended to take over the Earth to turn it into a wasteland. He dismisses him as guardian.
  • When Garlic tries to take over the position by force. He defeats his demon army and seals him.
  • He tells the Nameless Namekian that he must expell all the evil from his heart to turn into a Guardian. Although this led to the creation of King Piccolo it was necessary to carry out a responsibility as high as that of protecting life on Earth.
  • While after being resurrected with the other guardians he attacks Kami from taking the sacred water, after realizing that it was to undo the effects of the Black Water Mist he stops and leaves him.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • Although he passes the baseline by preventing Garlic from taking over Earth and using the Black Water Mist to brainwash all the species of the planet, he still suffers of Fridge Logic, since his full role as guardian of the Earth was not shown and this makes him to fail the admirable standards to Kami, Guru, and Dende. Who as guardians they created the Dragon Balls of their respective planets and allowed to help the Z-Fighters with them. And is unknown if Kami's Predecessor did something of equal importance to protect the Earth.
  • He doesn't have much characterization, since in the manga he never makes any physical appearance and in the Japanee version of the anime he has very low screen time without any dialogue while in the English dub he has only a few dialogues. However, knowing that he was a selfless guardian dedicated his life to protect Earth and guide Kami to inherit his position, this is a minor prevention.
  • The moment when he and the other guardians attacks Kami after taking the sacred wated makes him morally ambiguous, since it was never specified the reasons of the attack and this may imply a possible lethality on him. While he stops after realizing Kami's real intentions he should already know this since he put his trust in him by giving him his position before he died. Although there is still a chance about that he had temporal moral agency issues for being awakened from death abruptly this is too ambiguous to say.
