Ian Malcolm is one of the main protagonists of the Jurassic Park franchise and the main protagonist of the two novels by Michael Crichton.

He is a mathematician who specializes in chaos theory, cautioning others from the genetic engineering and dinosaurs coexist that can to lead humanity into Extinction.

In the films, he was portrayed by Jeff Goldblum.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • Whilst he passes the baseline due to giving the T-rex its child and stopping its rampage across San Diego, he fails the admirable standards to Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, Ellie Sattler and even Maisie Lockwood, who's also standard. since he never tried to save the dinosaurs or their environment. Most of his screentime ends up only predicting outcomes writing books. Even in the fifth film, his heroism extends to encouraging others.
  • He is also in the grey zone, as he cooperated for short time with Lewis Dodgson and "Biosyn" - the great enemy of "InGen" company, that even before the sixth film was morally questionable.

  • Though toned down in later films, he is sometimes shown to be very arrogant and sarcastic.
  • He was a neglectful father for his five children, with his rejection causing none of his marriages to be successful.
