Heroic Benchmark Wiki

Before getting started, here are a few rules that we recommend you follow. Failure to follow these rules will result in a block if done repeatedly.

General Rules

  • No Harassment: Harassing another user for any reason is not allowed, doing so will result in a block and repeated or extreme cases of harassment will lead to long or indefinite blocks.
  • No Vandalism/Trolling: Vandalizing or trolling a page by removing content for no reason, deleting text, changing categories, or inserting nonsense/gibberish onto a page simply to be disruptive is against the rules and will result in a block.
  • No Plagiarism: Do not copy and paste large portions of text from other wikis or websites that were not written you. Small portions such as text in infoboxes or character quotes are fine to reuse, but character descriptions and main article text must be original.
  • Ban Evading/Sockpuppeting: Creating an alternate account after a previous one was banned in order to keep editing on this wiki is strictly prohibited and will result in your previous account's block being extended or even made indefinite if it wasn't already.
  • Edit-warring: In the event of a disagreement over a page edit, the two users should go on the talk page or each others message wall rather than simply undoing each other's edit. If an edit war starts, both users will receive a warning and a block if the edit war continues. Repeatedly attempting to undo vandalism or nonsensical edits from a user not giving an explanation for their changes is not considered edit warring, although it's advised to simply message an admin if this occurs.
  • Edit-spamming: Doing massive amount of edits to the same page that can be done in a single edit is considered unnecessary, and repeated instances of this will result in a warning or block.
  • Profanity: Use of profane language in response to others is unnecessary and can be very rude and hostile. The wiki has mature content, and therefore profanity is fine when used on mature pages or a personal user page, but putting it in messages to other users or edit reasons is not allowed.

Content Rules

  • For rules pertaining specifically to Heroic Benchmarks, view the criteria page here.
  • Debated Validations: Debated validations are not allowed. If there is a potential reason why a character is a Heroic Benchmark but there is debate over whether it's valid, then that should be discussed in the character's talk page.
  • Discussing Validations: New reasons for why a character is a Heroic Benchmark should be discussed first on the talk page beyond the initial creation of the page.
  • New Categories: New categories are not allowed to be made without approval from an admin. The exception to this is categories for works that have multiple Heroic Benchmarks; a work must have at least five Heroic Benchmarks before a user can make a category for it.
  • No Moral Scaling Polls: Polls asking whether or not a character is a Heroic Benchmark or what their moral scaling status is are not allowed as no reasoning has to be given by the users who vote in them. They will be deleted if made and repeated use of them will result in a warning or block if done multiple times.

Proposal and Removal Restrictions

Because Heroic Benchmarks are the most common type of hero, and often the easiest to scale morally, proposals should only be reserved if the hero in question is heavily debated as to whether they're a heroic benchmark or not.
