Heishiro Mitsurugi is a character from the Soul Calibur series of video games. He is a samurai who uses the basic katana sword for combat. Mitsurugi is a samurai warrior that has appeared in every iteration of the Soul Calibur series. As a samurai his fighting style revolves around the katana. He has appeared in every installment to date.

  • Because he is a samurai, he frequently shows honor in combat, most notably sparing many of his foes.
  • He saved a man named Xi'an from being assassinated by a group of assassins.
  • He is shown on numerous occasions to care deeply about the people of his home nation of Japan, and whenever his journey to find Soul Edge stalled, he would always return to learn what was going on and help out anyone in need.
  • He joined forces with his old Murakami clan to defeat daimyo Akechi Mitsuhide's troops after the daimyo committed treason and overthrew his predecessor Oda Nobunaga in a coup.
  • Although he does get frustrated by Taki and the Edge Master for hindering his search for Soul Edge, he nonetheless respects their decisions and feels that they are in fact trying to protect him.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • Despite being a major character, his feats come out as relatively standard compared to other characters, most notably Taki, Kilik, Sophitia Alexandra, and Siegfried Schtauffen.
  • He tends to be very cocky in battle, often times taunting or insulting his opponents, however if he is defeated (such as in his storyline), he willingly concedes in defeat.
  • In Soul Calibur, he challenged a man named Teppou Hei and killed him in a single strike; it is never shown that he felt remorse for the action.
  • In Soul Calibur III and Soul Calibur VI, he killed Setsuka's master Shugen Kokonoe, which sets off a fierce rivalry between the two warriors until Soul Calibur V (it's still ongoing in the alternate timeline however).
