Heroic Benchmark Wiki

I think the question I get asked the most is what happened with the Thrilling Three. It was working fine for me - I had no problem working in groups. I think we were very successful. I think at times we may have been among the best. But a team is just that- a team. Uh, any time you take individuals and you put them in a contained environment, they tend to react like oil and water, sometimes, or peanut butter and chocolate… although peanut butter and chocolate does taste good together, so that's actually a bad example. Uh, I quite enjoy that. I think the thing I get asked about the most, of course, is my laser vision. People tend to think it's a real picnic to have eyes that shoot lasers, but, um, believe it or not, it's had its disadvantages. If I look at anything too intently, it tends to burst into flames, which can be a real pickle in a relationship scenario. When you're conversing with somebody, a normal person would be able to look them square in the eye. I avert my gaze, which is often interpreted as disinterest, or rather daft or stupid, which couldn't be farther, farther from the truth, I... I'm a man of culture, a man of passion, and I would say a man of humor, which is not widely known. On the outside, I appear calm and cool, perhaps even collected, but on the inside, I'm guffawing away on the steamship of hilarity. I'm not sure if that made very much sense.
~ Gazerbeam, NSA Files; also the only time we hear his voice.
Bob: "Simon J. Paladino, longtime advocate of superhero rights, is missing"? Gazerbeam.
~ Mr. Incredible reading the newspaper on Gazerbeam's disappearance.
Lucius: We keep sneakin' out to do this, and... you remember Gazerbeam?

Bob: Yeah. There was somethin' about him in the paper.
Lucius: He had trouble adjusting to civilian life, too.
Bob: When’s the last time you saw him?
Lucius: I don’t see anyone from the old days, Bob. Just you.

~ Bob and Lucius mention Gazberbeam during their talk; foreshadowing his death.

Simon J. Paladino, as well in his Superhero name Gazerbeam is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Rick Dicker) of the Incredibles franchise.

His Good Ranking[]

His Heroic Heeds[]

  • He became a superhero at some point and was good friends with Mr. Incredible, Frozone, and Gamma Jack.
  • He was (formerly) the leader of the Thrilling Three even though it didn't work out and broke up.
  • He and Fironic set up a direct phone line to Mr. Deavor so Mr. Deavor could call them for help when needed.
  • After superhero activity was banned and all supers were forced into going into hiding, he became a strong advocate for superhero rights, fighting to get the ban on them lifted.
  • He went to Nomanisan Island to fight the Omnidroid after being lured there, where he became weary of the true nature of Syndrome’s plans when he managed to abstract the code knowing he will do the same treatment with the other heroes with the new Omnidroid.
  • Upon injuring himself in an explosion after sustaining injuries from the Omnidroid, he used the last ounce of his energy from his eyes to carve the access code for Operation Kronos before succumbing to his wounds.
    • This is his most heroic thing he does cause doing this intentional, it gives him lot of influence to lead to Mr. Incredible stopping Syndrome and his plans indirectly and makes Gazerbeam's goal posthumously succeed.
  • His actions eventually led to Mr. Incredible arriving on the island himself and seeing the carved password on the rock, ultimately resulting in the latter uncovering Syndrome's ultimate plan and working with his family to stop both Syndrome and the final Omnidroid for good.

Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • The biggest reason why he can't stand out as Near Pure Good or Pure Good is despite passing the Baseline for his influence to the conflict by leaving a marking of the password led to help Mr. Incredible how to stop Syndrome and learning about his plans, his influence is too indirect to make him more stand out, most notably his most admirable deed was posthumously succeed.
    • And this makes him fail to Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, and Frozone in the Admirable Standards.
  • He lacks characterization as he never displays any personality outside of the NSA Files about him.
