Garold "Gary" Wilson, Jr. better known as Gary the Snail, is a major character in the SpongeBob SquarePants animated series. He is a sea snail and the domesticated house pet of SpongeBob SquarePants. He generally only communicates by meowing like a cat. Despite his limited speech, he is highly intelligent and has versatile interests in music and literature, though he is frequently depicted as being content with watching television and awaiting his next meal.
He is voiced by Tom Kenny as non-speaking and Dee Bradley Baker as speaking form in the episode "Sleepy Time".
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
- He is loyal to his best friend SpongeBob, being there for him when he's upset.
- When SpongeBob was having trouble tying his shoes, he helped him tie his shoes.
- He is usually an easy-going pet to SpongeBob, and truly does care for him, even if he never bothers to answer to his problems that he tells him about.
- After running away from SpongeBob because he didn't feed him for so long, he felt remorse for it, and eventually came back to him, even beforehand dealing with an old lady trying to overfeed him to death with cookies, luckily not fully giving in to his gluttonous nature.
- Despite only communicating through meows, he's a voice of reason to SpongeBob, telling him the right thing to do in certain situations, and understanding his problems he has.
- When Puffy Fluffy was about to eat SpongeBob, he saved his life from the sea monster, despite SpongeBob being completely ignorant in that scene thinking it was Gary's fault for Puffy Fluffy running away.
- In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, was supportive of SpongeBob getting the managerial promotion, even though he only showed up a few times briefly in the film, as well as getting mind controlled by Plankton.
- He is friendly with SpongeBob's other friends, like Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward (for the most part, except the one time he viciously attacked him when he broke into SpongeBob's bedroom).
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the hard admirable standards of SpongeBob SquarePants to SpongeBob himself, Patrick, and Sandy, who accomplished more than he did throughout the series.
- He can be rather jerkish, and arrogant at times on the show, especially when he viciously attacked Squidward, and also Plankton, although the latter did deserve the beatdown.
- When SpongeBob asked Gary to join the team alongside Plankton in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, he refused to do it becoming the king of all the snails who ended up in his pineapple house.
- In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, he barely did anything heroic throughout the whole film, being kidnapped by King Poseidon, and getting rescued by SpongeBob with his friends alongside him.
