Ennui. It's what you would call... the boredom.
~ Ennui describing what her name means.

Ennui (French for Boredom) is one of the secondary antagonists (alongside Envy) of Inside Out 2. She is the third emotion to appear since Riley Anderson's toddler years, by the time she becomes a teenager and is preceded by Anxiety and Envy then followed by Embarrassment, and Nostalgia (though she is too early to become relevant).

Her Good Ranking[]

Her Heroic Deeds[]

  • While she went along with Anxiety's plans, she only did it to help Riley.
  • She helped Riley fit in with Val and her crew by sounding sarcastic and playing it cool. She also helps to keep Riley from being unnecessarily involved in things that are not worth her time, such as drama.
  • When she saw the amount of pressure Anxiety was giving on Riley, she tried to stop her.
  • She reconciled with the other emotions.

Why Doesn't She Stand Out?[]

  • She heavily fails the admirable standards as her most admirable act of helping Riley to recover from a panic attack was shared with the other emotions, who have additional acts outside of this.
  • She also fails to Bing Bong who sacrificed himself to help Joy save Riley.
  • She spends the majority of the film as an antagonist, going along with Anxiety’s plans and having Riley act jerkish to Bree and Grace.
