~ Diaz reassuring Grizz.

Diaz is a major character of the We Bare Bears franchise, being a supporting character in the 2015 Cartoon Network original series of the same name, and its 2020 series finale film adaption, We Bare Bears: The Movie.

Like her fellow Poppy Rangers, Diaz is an amazonic and adventurous little girl scout/troop/park ranger who has a close friendship with Ranger Tabes and the three bears, more especially Grizzly. Diaz shows high commitment to her aforementioned fellow Poppy Rangers, but Diaz is described as more curious and entertaining, meaning that she is prone to asking too much questions and/or dwells in seeking for truth, but has a high sense of humor. Additionally, Diaz is also the most intelligent, selfless and rational of the Poppy Rangers. Outside of her career as a park ranger like Ranger Tabes, Diaz is typically seen casually playing with the other Poppy Rangers and having fun, more especially by having tissue and pillow fights and/or flying kites with the other Poppy Rangers.

Diaz is voiced by Marissa Soto.

Her Good Ranking[]

Her Heroic Deeds[]

  • In general, Diaz is a supportive, affable and faithful girl who is heavily beneficial in numerous situations, showing high loyalty towards her fellow Poppy Rangers and more especially, Ranger Tabes and Grizz Bear, and Diaz is almost never overconfident and incompetent in her heroism compared to the two, respectively, as with the other Poppies.
  • Diaz typically follows all of Ranger Tabes and Grizzly's commands, even if they are too risky.
  • Despite fluctuating and being blunt towards Grizz from time to time, Diaz builds a huge friendship towards Grizz Bear, even though she was astonished to encounter him for the first time, similar to Chloe's first interaction with the three bears. Additionally, Diaz even refers him as "Bear Guy," "Mr. Bear" or "Mr. Bear Guy" rather than just aliasing him as a traditional bear animal by basically calling him "Bear," like the other Poppies, which references Grizz and his fellow bear brothers' philanthropic interaction with the human race. Furthermore, Diaz lacks a significant grudge against Diaz's incompetence, as even though Grizz managed to unintentionally unleash dangerous fires while attaining previous Poppy Camping Badges, repeatedly stating that "he didn't do it," Diaz ultimately forgives Grizz for being an unintentional nuisance in such instances, smiling thankfully to Grizz for starting the campfire after Diaz attempted to fruitlessly start it.
  • Alongside the other Poppies, Diaz saved Wallace from Hurricane Hal, even if it endangered herself. Additionally, Diaz offered Grizz his kite to save Wallace from the hurricane, prompting her, Grizz and the Poppies to take advantage of the strong lasso within Grizz's kite, despite Diaz and the other Poppies making fun of it for looking childish.
  • Diaz is a voice of pure reason in several occasions:
    • When Ranger Tabes encourages Diaz and the other Poppies to explore the dark cave for the Spelunking Badge, Diaz and the other Poppies were reluctant on it and tried to reason with her, with Diaz attempting to reconsider embarking through the formidable Howling Mountain Cave, fearing the danger they will get themselves into (and sided with Grizz in deciding to take the safer route of the cave), such as being eventually stranded in the cave, and Ranger Tabes felt insecure when they did get stranded, but Diaz encouraged her that she is still an excellent forest ranger, motivating Tabes into optimism and getting herself, Grizz, Diaz and the other Poppy Rangers out of the cave.
    • After the Ranger War in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, Diaz was reluctant on eating Grizz, even though she and the other Poppies kidnapped him in the first place to do so, but this was out of immense starvation that comes sheer insanity, and even Grizz himself allowed Diaz and the Poppies to devour him in order to keep them alive, so this is understandable.
    • Despite being dismissive of Grizz and his incompetence in the annual Ranger Games, Diaz immediately becomes remorseful and is the first one to apologize for it, and eventually motivates and encourage him to defeat the Ivy Rangers, more especially through cheerleading, in which Grizz reforms his incompetence because of this, a sentiment that would go on over the course of the series.
  • While Ranger Tabes and Grizz are more admirable than Diaz and the other Poppies throughout the series, both of them have far more resources than Diaz as Tabes and Grizz boast almost superhuman physical strength, and the latter even possesses sharp claws and the ability to unleash a loud and devastating roar. Meanwhile, Diaz is just a little girl with genius-level intelligence and skill in spikesmanship.
  • Diaz, alongside the other Poppy Rangers and their fellow commander, Ranger Tabes, assisted Grizz Bear, Ice Bear and Panda Bear in defeating Agent Trout, leading to his well-deserved imprisonment and preventing Trout from unlawfully capturing and torturing the three Bears.

Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]

  • While saving Wallace from Hurricane Hal, offering Grizz and Ranger Tabes a immense positive influence to reform themselves from their corrupting factors, and preventing Agent Trout from unlawfully imprisoning Grizz, Panda and Ice Bear allows her to pass the baseline, Diaz heavily fails the high admirable standards of the We Bare Bears franchise, more especially to the three bears, including Grizz, and even Ranger Tabes and Wallace, since her heroism is just supportive.
  • Despite Diaz's aforementioned loyalty towards the other Poppies, Diaz is still eager and arrogant enough to still argue and bicker with the other Poppies from time to time.
  • While having the mindset and personality to be qualified as such, Diaz is shown to be too dissociative and lethal to be qualified as Pure Good: this is demonstrated in the infamous scene in the episode, Lord of the Poppies, where she and the other Poppies fall into insanity after succumbing to immense starvation and having had enough of Grizz's incompetence in attempting to nourish them, going as far as turning against Grizz and attempting to devour him. Not only that, Diaz is also too control freakish and berserking, shown during the brutal Ranger War, Diaz insulted and brutally fought the other Poppies for the guidebook to attain leadership, just to rule over the other Poppies out of ruthlessness, vehemently threatening Wallace that she will "rip her butt off." Diaz, in particular, went as far as spraying bug spray towards Murphy and Nguyen over the guidebook to temporarily daze them, knowing that the spray was only meant for bugs and is poisonous to humans, and was the first one to begin the Ranger War by attacking Wallace for the book before that. Even before such instances, Diaz was the first one to take action upon becoming insane from starvation and attempting to eat Grizz, by biting on Grizz's leg, which traumatized the latter.
