Daniel "Danny" Cat is the main protagonist of Cats Don't Dance. He is a talented cat who goes to Hollywood in hopes that he can sing and dance (since, according to his arrival song, he was a kitten), only to hear from Woolie the Elephant that Hollywood wants only talented human people.
He was voiced by Scott Bakula.

- He helped his penguin friend, Pudge load ice in a cart.
- Throughout the film, he is the only one who remains optimistic and tries to make the other animals regain their spirits in acting.
- He tried to make Sawyer regain her spirit in acting after learning of her backstory.
- He gathers the animals in the alley and encourages to dance.
- He tries to make Sawyer regain her spirits in dancing by having her dance with her.
- Even though he made a deal with Darla and it was found out that she tricked him and got him and the animals fired, he didn't know she was trying to sabotage him and truly felt bad for what he did.
- He battles Max and defeats him by popping the balloon.
- He invites the animals to Darla's premiere "Lil' Ark Angel" to make them dance and show the world what they can do.
- He indirectly contributes to Darla's defeat by having her yell at him, accidentally yelling into a microphone, thus revealing to the audience how she really is.
- He made the animals become actors in the end of the movie.

- Most of his acts are bog-standard kindness and his heroism is pretty standard.
