~ Hunter's description of Crosshair. |
“ | Crosshair: Hunter? I... I thought I knew what I was getting into with the Empire. I thought I was being...a good soldier. Hunter: Nobody really understood what was happening back then. Crosshair: I've done things. I've made mistakes. Hunter: I have regrets too, Crosshair. All we can do is keep trying to be better and who knows, there just might be hope for us yet. |

CT-9904 (nicknamed "Crosshair") is one of the four titular tritagonists of the Bad Batch arc of Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and one of the three titular tritagonists (alongside Tech and Echo) of its 2021 spin-off/sequel Disney+ series Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
As a soldier of the Republic's Grand Army, Crosshair was part of the elite team of Clone Force 99 composed exclusively of defective clones like himself and specialized in dangerous missions.
Just like the rest of The Clones, Crosshair is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker, who voiced Appa and Momo in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Naga in Avatar: The Legend of Korra, Perry the Platypus in Phineas and Ferb. Klaus in American Dad.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
In General[]
- Although he was xenophobic to "regs" at first, he subverts this as over time he begins to care for his fellow brothers.
- He became good friends with the other members of Cody's squad and got along with them than with his old squad.
- He also became really good friends with Mayday after Cody deserted and was upset when he died.
- Although he willingly chose to be a villain for some time, he eventually showed remorse and atoned for all of his crimes and with his growth in the final season, lost nearly all of his villainous qualities at the end. As a result, this no longer counts as detracting.
- Most of his actions in Season 1 weren't completely his fault as he was under the control of his inhibitor chip.
- He was an anti-villain and well-intentioned extremist with an understandable motive, genuinely believing that the Empire would bring peace and order to the Galaxy, only defecting once his loyalty to this cause wasn't returned.
- Even before his redemption, he was willing to team up with his former squadmates to escape Kamino when it was being destroyed without intending to kill them and let them leave peacefully, showing that he was legitimately On & Off.
- He also had numerous moments of conflict over his actions, starting from his Elite Squad not respecting him and ending with Lieutenant Nolan neglecting help for his friend Mayday.
- He already rejected corruption before his redemption, as he rejected the chance to be a part of Dr. Royce Hemlock's clone assassin program twice and became a defective clone again.
Background[]
- Along with the rest of his brothers, he supported the Galactic Republic in multiple battles, as well as being good friends with Commander Cody.
The Clone Wars[]
- Along with the rest of Clone Force 99, he assisted Anakin, Obi-Wan and Mace during the Battle of Anaxes. He also gave Captain Rex a salute before leaving.
- Along with the rest of Clone Force 99, he recovered the long lost clone Echo from Skako Minor, who would play a huge role in giving the Republic a victory on Anaxes, and welcomed him to his squad after seeing he is no longer a normal clone.
- Along with the rest of Clone Force 99, he assists the Wookiees in defending Kashyyyk. (Deleted scene)
The Bad Batch[]
Season 1[]
- Along with the rest of Clone Force 99, he assists Caleb Dume during the Battle of Kaller until Order 66 was executed.
- Although he did fight some clones in the mess hall, it was out of self-defense.
- He helps his squadmates in the Training Room when Tarkin ordered the Training Droids to shoot real blaster fire.
- He offered to spare his former squad if they joined the Empire with him instead of killing them. He also killed all of the remaining members of his new Elite Squad (minus ES-02) when they refused to stand down against them.
- He assists his former squad in escaping Kamino. He also saved Omega and AZI from drowning out of gratitude for her saving him from debris. And while he refused to rejoin Clone Force 99 and argued with them, he at least let them leave peacefully.
Season 2[]
- He faked his former squad's deaths to Vice Admiral Rampart, showing that he still cared about them.
- While he did kill Tawni Ames, he did it to spare Cody's life and he showed regret over it later on.
- He was upset that Cody deserted the Empire and was disgusted that Rampart referred to him by number rather than name.
- He helped defend Mayday's outpost from raiders, but failed as it resulted in the deaths of Hexx and Veetch and the equipment they were ordered to guard being stolen.
- Along with Mayday, he risked his life to retrieve the stolen cargo in order to complete his mission for the Empire, only for it to be revealed that they were guarding TK trooper armor all along.
- When Mayday was caught in an avalanche, Crosshair tried to bring Mayday to safety and asks Lieutenant Nolan to give him a medic. But when Nolan refuses and Mayday dies, he gets disgusted that his superiors in the Empire neglected his wellbeing and kills the lieutenant to avenge Mayday's death.
- He refused to join Dr. Royce Hemlock's clone assassin program out of disgust that Lieutenant Nolan betrayed him and tried to send a distress signal to his former squad that they are in danger once again, only to get incapacitated by Dr. Hemlock.
Season 3[]
- Although he did intend to leave Omega behind at first, he eventually helps Omega escape and begins to bond with her. He also gradually starts to bond with her pet hound Batcher after freeing her.
- While he did intend to use violent methods in their escape from the planet Lau, this was pragmatic because he needed to escape from the Empire tracking him and Omega down, and this was later necessary when they had to defend themselves from Captain Mann.
- He saves Hunter from a creature beneath the ice. After this, he reconciles with him and shows remorse for all of his crimes, redeeming himself in the process, and rejoins Clone Force 99 for good after reconciling with the rest of the members too.
- He also shows remorse for having some of Howzer's men killed earlier and reconciles with him as they put their differences aside to fight CX-2.
- While he did try to attack Asajj Ventress and distracted Omega during her tests along with Hunter and Wrecker, this was done out of fear she'll be taken away from him again, and he did come to understand Ventress's motives later on while also showing gratitude she saved her life.
- He tries to defend Pabu from CX-2 and while hesitant at first, ultimately agrees with Omega's plan to surender herself to save the people of Pabu. He then tries to shoot a tracker on CX-2's ship so that his squad can go to save Omega, only to miss due to his hand tremors, and he shows deep remorse for missing the shot.
- While he may have treated Rampart as a butt-monkey, it is warranted due to destroying Kamino and he primarily wanted to call him out due to still hating clones.
- Still feeling sorry for what he was in the past, he intended to head to Mount Tantiss alone to atone for his actions, only relenting after Hunter and Wrecker told him that they weren't leaving him behind.
- Along with Hunter, Wrecker and Echo, he assists in defeating Dr. Hemlock's clone assassins.
- Along with Hunter, he saves Omega and kills Dr. Hemlock, ending his cruel treatment over the clones for good and ensuring all of them can hide from the Empire for good. After this, he, Omega and Hunter all share a hug and peacefully retire on Pabu.
- While he did appear to be vengeful as he shot him multiple times until he fell off the catwalk, this was 100% warranted because he threatened Omega's life and gave multiple clones fates worse than death.
- Although he had to kill Scorch who is also a clone, this was to ensure Omega's safety.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- While killing Dr. Royce Hemlock is very admirable, he massively fails the high standards to Echo and Omega, who both played huge roles in saving all of the clones on Mount Tantiss as well as Anaxes and Pabu respectively. He also fails the standards to Hunter, who is the leader of Clone Force 99 that leads most of their missions, and Tech, who sacrificed himself to let the squad live, due to having much less standout heroic deeds than both of them.
- He's still arrogant and cynical to a degree because he assumes that Clone Force 99 died with Tech and that they're not all making it out and occassionally makes fun of Omega's positive qualities.
- He and Wrecker treated Rampart like a butt-monkey and while he may have deserved this, he still took a lot of enjoyment out of it.
