Master Crane, or simply Crane, is a major protagonist of the Kung Fu Panda franchise. He is a black-necked crane who is member of the Furious Five and a master of the Crane style of kung fu.

He is voiced by David Cross in the films, shorts, and most video games; Drew Massey in the first video game; and Amir Talai in the second video game and the TV series.

His Good Ranking[]

His Heroic Deeds[]

Background[]

  • When he was younger, he persisted in learning kung fu, even gaining a place at the Lee Da Kung Fu Academy when he was filled with confidence.
  • He helped Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, and Viper defeat Boar even after Shifu rejected him and the last three at first.
  • He is implied to have helped the other Furious Five in numerous other battles, although these are offscreen.

Kung Fu Panda[]

  • When Po accidentally bumped into his room, Crane politely talked to him, albiet awkwardly.
  • He warmed up to Po after having rejecting him at first, which is shown when he helped the latter get unstuck from attempting a full split.
  • He helped fight Tai Lung at the Thread of Hope, saving Tigress from falling to her death and carrying the other four Five (who were nerve-blocked) to the Jade Palace.
  • He helped evacuate the Valley of Peace when Tai Lung arrived. Later, when Po defeated the snow leopard, Crane accepted the panda as the Dragon Warrior.

Kung Fu Panda 2[]

  • He and Tigress informed the others about wolf bandits attacking the Artisan Village.
  • He helped Po and the rest of the Five fight off the wolf bandits, aiding the panda in freeing a pig trapped in a bell and slowing his descent from high heights.
  • He and Monkey fought and defeated two wolves in Gongmen City.
  • He assisted Po and the rest of the Five in the second battle against Shen.
  • He helped Po, Shifu, the rest of the Furious Five, Storming Ox, and Croc fight Shen and his army.
  • He sent a huge gust of wind to propel two of Shen's ships, preventing more from advancing.

Kung Fu Panda 3[]

  • He helped in the inital battle against the Jombies.
  • He went on a mission with Mantis to locate Kai. When the Mantis was Jombified, Crane flew into the shipwreck to rescue him, putting up a decent fight with Kai. Unfortunately, Crane's chi was captured by Kai while trying to escape.

Kung Fu Panda 4[]

  • He and the rest of the Furious Five helped Po train Zhen to become the next Dragon Warrior.

Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]

  • Most of his heroic actions amount to supporting Po, Shifu, and the rest of the Furious Five.
  • He fails the Admirable Standard to Li Shan, Mr. Ping, and the Soothsayer, who all had less resources than him.
  • Despite shedding most of his corrupting qualities after warming up to Po, he still has some jerkish moments, such as laughing at Mantis when he was instructed to join him in locating Kai.
