~ Cedric's good sportsmanship to Harry, before they both take the Triwizard Cup. |
Cedric Diggory is the central protagonist of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and a posthumous protagonist in subsequent installments. He is a fourth-year student in Hufflepuff as a Triwizard Champion.
He was portrayed by Robert Pattinson.
His Good Ranking[]
His Heroic Deeds[]
- Prior to the events of the Goblet of Fire, he was known to be a kind and caring Hufflepuff, leading him to become a popular student.
- Upon seeing Harry blacking out in a Quidditch match in the Prisoner of Azkaban, he offered to replay the match and checked to ensure Harry was alright.
- Although most of the students and staff believed that Harry cheated and believed him to be a liar, Harry implies he was one of the few people who remained kind with him, even though he believes Harry cheated. He even asked the students to stop wearing 'Potter Stinks' badges, albeit futilely.
- Out of gratitude for Harry helping him on the first task, Cedric assists Harry on the second task to help him open the golden egg.
- Helped Harry fight the creatures in the maze and displayed good sportsmanship through agreeing to take the cup together.
- Cedric lacks corrupting qualities and consistently serves to lighten the mood of the story.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- He fails the pass the baseline, as most of his heroism comes from bog-standard acts of kindness.
- He infamously joins Lord Voldemort in an alternate timeline and defends Nagini so the Dark Lord can rise, so it's not hard to assume he's fully corruptible in either timeline. It's because he was humiliated during the Triwizard Tournament, giving his villainy an extremely petty reason, and if his pride had been hurt in the mainstream timeline, It's possible he could have become a Death Eater.
- He heavily fails the admirable standards to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, who all played far more active roles in the plot of the story. He also fails it to fellow HBs Rubeus Hagrid and Minerva McGonagall.
Trivia[]
- Ironically, his most glaring prevention has been correctly slammed by critics and readers alike, as prior to The Cursed Child, there was no indication that he was corruptible at all.
