These are Heroic Benchmarks who are with fatal flaws and often aren't in full control of their emotions and actions. They pretty much go through tragedy and hard times.
There are many ways to deem a Heroic Benchmarks tragic:
- Heroic Benchmarks who have or had problems with their family such as:
- Those who lost their loved ones. (King Rhoam who lost his wife, Princess Elise who lost both her parents)
- Those who are related to villains and they have to fight them.
- Heroic Benchmarks who grew up or live in less than acceptable conditions:
- Poor Heroic Benchmarks who have little to no money.
- Heroic Benchmarks who grow up in a society that does awful or unwantable actions.
- Outcasts who desire to be with and/or loved by the people around them.
- Heroic Benchmarks who has a troubled relationships with/is being mistreated by others.
- Possessed/Brainwashed Heroic Benchmarks who have done wrong things without their own choice.
- Heroes who were exposed to forces which brought out their darkest qualities or were slowly killing them, but searched for help, or used it as an excuse to take up heroism.
- Remorseful Heroic Benchmarks who deeply regret actions they have done in the past, to the point where it affects their mental health.
- Heroic Benchmarks who brought their misery upon themselves, but they take responsibility for their actions or feel great remorse for them.
- Heroes who are deformed, crippled, sick, hurting or otherwise suffering from health problems, but their physical or mental issues don't prevent them from being admirable.
- In many cases they have a mixture of the circumstances above.
It is important that the Heroic Benchmark does not let their tragedies make them do terrible things on their own volition and instead use their tragedies to become better people overall. Also, not every tragic Heroic Benchmarks is automatically a Scapegoat since they may rise above their tragedies to live better lives or get the rewards they deserve.
Their villainous counterparts are Tragic Villainous Benchmarks and their opposites are Fake Tragic Villainous Benchmarks.
