Barnacle Boy is one of the recurring characters in the SpongeBob SquarePants television series. He is Mermaid Man's sidekick and best friend. He is one of the favorite characters of Patrick and SpongeBob who starred in the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy series. He, alongside Mermaid Man, are now semi-retired and currently live in Shady Shoals where they will spend the remainder of their lives, but they still won't hesitate to go into action when duty calls.

- Barnacle Boy, alongside Mermaid Man, have saved Bikini Bottom from various villains on certain occasions.
- After turning to the path of evil and becoming Barnacle Man, he eventually learns the errors of his ways and returns to the side of good.
- He helped ruin Plankton's plans and destroyed the Shelly Highway.
Why Doesn't He Stand Out?[]
- Barnacle Boy fails both the general and in-story high standards to Patrick and SpongeBob, as they both have higher heroic feats and have saved Bikini Bottom multiple times with fewer resources. He even fails to Princess Mindy, who is just as involved in saving Mr. Krabs from being killed by her father for stealing his crown which he never did.
- He has fallen to the dark side to which shows that he is still corruptible. Even when he redeems himself, he has other corrupting factors that he never subverted.
- Like with everyone else in the show, his actions presented on screen aren't taken seriously enough and it doesn't help that the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise is pure comedy and does not have any continuity at all.
