Bagheera is the tritagonist of Disney's 19th full-length animated feature film The Jungle Book, a supporting character in its 2003 sequel The Jungle Book 2, and one of the protagonists of its TV prequel Jungle Cubs. He is a wise black panther, a friend among many in the jungle and a "second father" to Mowgli, the man cub.
He was voiced by the late Sebastian Cabot in the original movie, who also voiced Lord Ector in The Sword in the Stone, and by Bob Joles in the sequel.

The Jungle Book[]
- He found Mowgli as a baby in his basket with nobody else around to protect him, and took him in bringing the lost baby to the wolves to take care of him.
- When the wolf pack leader Akela, and the other wolves were concerned about Mowgli's safety when Shere Khan returned to that part of the jungle. He insisted on bringing Mowgli back to the man village where he'd be safe.
- Saved Mowgli from being eaten by Kaa by hitting him, but got hypnotized by her afterwards.
- Told Colonel Hathi that he's bringing Mowgli to the man village when Mowgli tried to join the elephant army.
- Despite leaving Mowgli alone after the man cub gave him a hard time about not wanting to go to the man village. He came to his rescue when he thought he was in trouble, which it happened to be Baloo having fun with Mowgli.
- After Mowgli got taken by The Bandar Log. He teamed up with Baloo to rescue him from King Louie.
- Had an important talk with Baloo about why Mowgli must go to the village being right all along, despite Baloo having a lot of good points.
- Encouraged Baloo to tell Mowgli that he has to go to the man village.
- When Mowgli ran away from Baloo, he separated with the bear to find him.
- Asked Colonel Hathi for help with his elephant army to find Mowgli who was lost, and ran away.
- Calmed Mowgli down after Baloo laying on the ground, and gave a heartwarming speech about the bear who sacrificed himself to save Mowgli from Shere Khan.
- Happily brought Mowgli to the man village where he'd be safe with his kind.
The Jungle Book 2[]
- Tried to stop Baloo from going to the man village to see Mowgli, even getting Colonel Hathi's elephant army to stop him.
- When he suspected Mowgli was back in the jungle with Baloo. He had a word with the bear being convinced that he was telling the truth when he was clearly lying.
- Told Baloo to be careful when he went to rescue Mowgli, and Shanti from Shere Khan.
- Enjoyed the moment seeing Mowgli again with Shanti, and Ranjan letting the little boy grab his tail.
Why He Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Though he passes the general baseline by saving Mowgli and returning him to the Man Village, he still fails the admirable standards of The Jungle Book to Baloo who rescued Mowgli twice from Shere Khan fighting the tiger off, despite having the strength disadvantage in the fight sacrificing himself as well as even saving Shanti from Shere Khan in the sequel.
- He can have some arrogant moments towards Baloo, especially calling him a shifty stupid jungle bum and a disreputable sight.
