Ami Onuki is the main protagonist and one of the main protagonists alongside Yumi Yoshimura of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. She is the optimist in contrast to Yumi's pessimistic view on life and often tends to be quite immature at times, much to Yumi's annoyance. Ami is known for her girly nature and is primarily interested in anything related to the interests of young girls. They live in a tour bus with Kaz Harada, who manages their musical careers and drives it while going from one town to another.

- When Yumi becomes a ninja and starts taking it too far and becoming aggressive to everyone around her, Ami was willing to train under Yumi's ninjutsu master's partner to best Yumi and help her remember their friendship.
- Being the optimist, she is usually the one who tries to solve problems when an option doesn't go as planned or when Yumi doesn't agree to it.
- She cares deeply for Yumi and Kaz as well as everyone around and extends to animals as well.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Her heroics tend to be bog-standard at best.
- Her obsessive nature tends to go way too far and was willing to steal others' possessions just to complete a collection, showcasing her selfishness.
- She refused to let Kaz do his own thing and forces him to do what she wants him to do, including making him wear a bunny suit and attend a tea party with her collection of cereal toys against his will.
Trivia[]
- Ami was originally approved as PG due to her optimistic and cheery nature, but as the admirable standards have changed overtime, she was eventually rejected due to not only having corrupting traits, but also because she was too standard to qualify.
