“ | Can I hold your hand? | „ |
~ Agnes to Felonious Gru. |
“ | Look at that fluffy unicorn! He's so fluffy I'm gonna die! | „ |
~ Agnes's most famous line, said when she sees a toy unicorn. |
Agnes Gru is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Margo Gru and Edith Gru) of the Despicable Me franchise.
She is the youngest of the three orphan girls and one of Felonious Gru's adoptive daughters. She later becomes the adoptive daughter of Gru's wife, Lucy Wilde, and adoptive sister of Gru Junior. She also has a strong love for unicorns.
In Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2, she is voiced by Elsie Fisher, who also voiced Parker Needler in the 2019 movie The Addams Family. In Despicable Me 3, she is voiced by Nev Scharrel. And in Despicable Me 4, she is voiced by Madison Skyy Polan.
Her Good Ranking[]
Her Heroic Deeds[]
- Her mischief is not corruptive because she is just a kid who is even little compared to Edith and Margo that typically makes harmless jokes and has several laughable and comedic moments, and whenever she intones insensitive humor in front of people, like Gru (like yelling he loves Lucy in a singsong voice), Lucy, or Vector (like asking why he wears pajamas even after he says that's not what they are, with him being at home alone saying numbers about Agnes' naivety given her upbringing in an orphanage), it is never intentionally offensive.
- She helps sell cookies and has typically been very loving towards Edith and Margo.
- She offered Gru a piggy bank to inspire him to build a rocket ship to go to the moon.
- She saved Margo's life from an evil purple minion, Kevin, by screaming to make him go dizzy.
- She comforted and reassured Gru over Lucy’s departure to Australia.
- She unleashes a jelly gun to turn the Evil Minions back to their traditional incarnations, along with Edith, Margo, and the other minions.
- She stops a robber from stealing ice cream (in a short).
- She called Lucy Wilde a mom, immediately recognizing her as her mother.
- Helping Gru and the rest of her family to help stop Bratt from vandalizing the city and half the world.
- She convinces the AVL agents to take good care of Lucky.
- Agnes is virtually honest. While she did argue against Gru about going undercover, it was understandable because she did not want to lie being she knows it was wrong despite it being necessary and her naivety heavily rationalizes her inability to compartmentalize at all. Additionally, she refused to state her fake name to the karate teacher, which aroused his anger. Even though it incited him to be outraged and caused Edith to fight him in the first place and was only concerned about how much pushups she had to perform later on, she did not perform this out of arrogance and rather out of misguidance, and was virtually upset by how condescending the teacher was to her.
- She and her sisters fight against Principal Übelschlecht who is attacking Gru and Lucy.
Why She Doesn't Stand Out?[]
- Even with or without low resources, Agnes fails the admirable standards of the franchise as her Goodness Zone of transfiguring the purple minions before they can burn cities is shared with a few other heroes, and despite having the mindset and personality for a PG.
Trivia[]
- Similar to Lucy Wilde, Agnes Gru was proposed for being a full-on Pure Good, but since she drastically fails the admirable standards of the franchise upon reanalysis, she was eventually rejected.
